Donate to African Studies at the UW-Madison

In the Spring of 2006, the African Studies Program will be launching a giving campaign to support research, training, outreach, and student scholarships in the general cross-disciplinary field of African studies.

In this day when funding for area studies programs and higher education in general is being frozen and even cut in some instances, developing alternative, sustainable sources of support for the innovative and meaningful work of the program, faculty, and students becomes increasingly important and necessary.

African Studies at the UW-Madison has been at the forefront since its inception and we want to keep it that way. Our Africa courses on the Madison campus reach 4,000 undergraduates annually, and about 100 Africanist graduate students are training at Wisconsin now to provide coming generations the Africa expertise that our nation and the world require.

We will be sending more information on the campaign in the coming weeks. If you would like to give today -- to help us build a strong foundation for the coming campaign -- you can make your tax deductible contributiuon online now (through the UW Foundation):
